Color them surprised over remodeled lounge

Teachers at Northwest Elementary School in Amityville showed their surprise at the unveiling of their newly remodeled lounge.

The reveal of the $5,000 makeover took place at the school on Wednesday, Sept. 17.

The remodeling was awarded through the national Creative Teachers Sweepstakes, sponsored by Walmart and Crayola. The renovation included $3,000 in Walmart gift cards from Crayola for furniture and décor, $1,000 in Walmart gift cards for teachers, and $1,000 in Crayola art supplies.   

Volunteers from Walmart and Crayola completed the lounge transformation, which features a custom mural painted by a Walmart associate. Northwest Elementary was one of just 24 schools nationwide selected for the program, which has donated more than $120,000 to schools over the past three years.
