LI credit union donates carloads of food during annual donation drive

Ocean Financial Federal Credit Union wrapped up their annual Holiday Food Donation Drive this week, gathering an impressive amount of contributions to benefit local families in need this holiday season.

In total, two SUV loads filled with donated items were delivered to the food pantry at Our Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church in Freeport.

“This marks my sixth annual holiday food drive since joining Ocean Financial, and each year our impact grows,” said Joe Tedesco, president and CEO of Ocean Financial. “This milestone reflects not only our ongoing commitment, but also the generosity of our members and staff who make it possible. Together, we’re not just supporting financial well-being, we’re strengthening hope and resilience across our community.”

As part of the drive, Ocean Financial accepted baby food, shelf stable milk, canned goods, sponges, garbage bags, baby products, paper products as well as other items such as blankets and clothing for donation at all of their branch locations. Among the most frequent donations were canned vegetables, mac & cheese, and stuffing.

The donations were delivered in bulk to help support the parish’s efforts in feeding the community during the winter months.

“Food insecurity is rising across Long Island, and many families are struggling now more than ever to put meals on the table,” said Ana Sullivan, food pantry director at Our Holy Redeemer. “The holiday season is an especially difficult time for those facing hardship, which makes the generosity of donors even more meaningful. Every contribution helps us bring comfort, nourishment, and hope to our neighbors in need.”
