Senior center celebrates 10th annual St. Patrick’s Day Irish Soda Bread Contest

The Town of Huntington Senior Center celebrated its 10th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Irish Soda Bread Contest on Tuesday, March 17th at its location, 423 Park Avenue, bringing together participants, staff, and local officials for a celebration of Irish culture.

Contestants showcased their baking talents with a variety of Irish soda bread recipes to be judged by a panel including Huntington Supervisor Ed Smyth, Councilman Dave Bennardo, Receiver of Taxes Jillian Guthman, Councilwoman Jennifer Hebert, and a member of the senior center, Sue O.

“This event truly captures the spirit of our senior center, bringing people together to celebrate creativity and community,” said Smyth.  “After 52 years of service, it is obvious that Huntington has the senior center that serves as a model to all”.

The senior center, which provides Huntington’s seniors with a place to socialize, engage in activities, and enjoy a healthy meal, celebrated 52 years of operation on Wednesday, March 18.
