IKEA food drive to help Island Harvest

IKEA Long Island is hosting a food drive to support Island Harvest Food Bank.

During the months of October and November, IKEA Long Island at the Broadway Commons in Hicksville is encouraging members of the community to donate non-perishable food products or new household items at its donation bin inside of the Swedish Food Market, right next to the store exit.

This summer, IKEA Long Island collected 320 pounds donated by community members and coworkers. That donation was given to Island Harvest Food Bank in September and helped support 270 families.

“We are grateful to IKEA for their caring, generosity, and ongoing support in helping our fellow Long Islanders who are struggling to put food on their tables,” Randi Shubin Dresner, CEO of Island Harvest Food Bank, said in a written statement. “Valued partnerships, like the one we enjoy with IKEA, enable us to address some of society’s most pressing issues, like hunger and food insecurity in our communities.”
