Pelicana Chicken coming to Plainview

A new Pelicana Chicken restaurant will soon open in Plainview.

The eatery at 542 Woodbury Road will be the first Long Island location for the chain that has more than 3,000 restaurants worldwide.

Pelicana offers a Korean-inspired menu that focuses on fried chicken coated in a variety of unique flavorful sauces. There are also salads and fries and interesting side dishes like spicy rice cakes and donut cheese balls.

The new Plainview location, which is expected to open in a few weeks, will have seating for about 20 people and will also offer online ordering, pick-up and delivery.

Founded in Daejeon, South Korea in 1982, Pelicana, which bills itself as the “King of Chicken,” has locations throughout Asia, Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom. The company also has 28 stores in the U.S. that are located in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, California, Michigan, Georgia and Washington.
