Hempstead Village officials and police give gifts to seniors

Village of Hempstead officials and village police officers recently gave out hundreds of gifts and necessities to seniors in need.

The village police decorated a police bus in holiday lights to bring the gifts to the Hempstead Park Nursing Home on Front Street a few days before Christmas. The bus was joined by decorated emergency vehicles as part of the Hempstead Police Holiday Caravan.

The village and its police department organized the Holiday Caravan to bolster trust between residents and the police. The gifts were purchased by the police individually as a community service.
