Green Acres recognizes 10 schools with over $15K through School Cents program

Green Acres celebrated 10 local schools through its annual School Cents program, awarding a total of $15,350 in funding to support PTA initiatives at a celebratory check presentation at the Valley Stream mall on Saturday, June 7.

The program rewards school communities for their active involvement at the center. From September through April, teachers, parents and friends of each school earned points by submitting receipts from shopping, dining and service purchases, as well as attending mall-hosted events

At the end of the program, each school’s total points were tallied and translated into a monetary award, with every participating PTA receiving a cash prize based on their final ranking.

The 10 participating schools included Brooklyn Avenue School, Robert W. Carbonaro School, Forest Road School, William L. Buck School, Lawrence Elementary School, Lawrence Primary School, Shaw Avenue School, Lawrence Woodmere Academy, Valley Stream Christian Academy and Wheeler Elementary School.

“The School Cents program continues to be one of Green Acres’ ways of giving back with the goal of turning everyday visits to the mall into meaningful support for local education,” said Jill Bromberg, marketing community relations manager of Green Acres. “We were proud to celebrate the incredible efforts of these PTA communities and support the important work they do for our children.”

Green Acres’ School Cents program is part of the center’s broader mission to encourage education, reward community participation and provide lasting impact to local families.

“It’s heartening to see Green Acres not only investing in the future of our children through the School Cents program, but also helping teach them the importance of saving and investing in their communities,” said New York State Assemblymember Michaelle Solages. “This powerful partnership between Green Acres and our PTAs raises vital funds for our schools while instilling valuable life lessons in the next generation.”
