LI Alzheimer’s & Dementia Center raises funds and awareness at ‘Cocktails & Casino Night’

More than 300 guests turned out to the Long Island Alzheimer’s & Dementia Center (LIAD) ninth annual Cocktails & Casino Night, held at the Heritage Club at Bethpage on Wednesday, Nov 12 for an evening of blackjack, roulette, poker, music, dinner, cocktails, and a live auction to support the Westbury-based nonprofit.

“We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support at this year’s Casino Night,” said Tori Cohen, CEO of the Long Island Alzheimer’s & Dementia Center. “Every contribution helps us expand our programs, strengthen caregiver support, and ensure that those living with dementia receive the compassionate, dignified care they deserve.”

The event was co-chaired by Jennifer Cona, founder and managing partner of Cona Elder Law, and Rick Punturo, CFP of Punturo Financial Services, Inc.

“Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s can be overwhelming and isolating, and LIAD provides a lifeline,” said Cona, who is also an LIAD board member. “Over the past nine years, our Casino Night has grown exponentially, both in fundraising as well as in bringing awareness regarding the meaningful programs LIAD provides to participants and caregivers. This year, we are so proud to have engaged 40 sponsors and a sell-out crowd.”

Also receiving honors were Anthony and Jennifer Gonzalez of Atria Senior Living as ‘Champions of the Cause’, and Kyle Hauptman, AAMS of Edward Jones, who was named the evening’s Advocate Honoree.

“We’ve been fortunate to partner with LIAD in so many meaningful ways,” said Jennifer Gonzalez. “At Atria, our mission is about creating a safe, caring, and joyful environment for older adults — and working together with LIAD has been such a natural extension of that mission.”
