Macy’s team members deck the halls for Ronald McDonald House in New Hyde Park

More than 20 team members from Macy’s Long Island–New York Metro division visited Ronald McDonald House New York Metro in New Hyde Park on Tuesday, Dec. 2 to transform it into a festive holiday retreat for families staying close to their hospitalized children receiving care at nearby Cohen Children’s Medical Center at Northwell.

“People want to be a part of this experience and give back. We’re all so proud to be a part of it,” said Allison Eng, director of visual merchandising for Macy’s.

The team members, representing Macy’s locations across the region including Manhasset, Valley Stream, Garden City and Elmhurst, decorated the room with garlands, holly, a menorah, sparkling ornaments, wrapped presents, oversized ribbons, stockings and Santa figurines.

“Our theme for this year is whimsy and cheer,” said Eng. “We brought these large ornaments that we repurposed from our children’s display at Macy’s, and we love how playful and colorful they are.”

Ronald McDonald House serves hundreds of families whose children are receiving lifesaving care each holiday season. About one-third of families supported are experiencing a NICU stay, another third are hematology/oncology patients, and the remaining families typically have children in the Pediatric ICU with acute illness, injury or other life-threatening conditions.

“Macy’s’ generosity is what the season is all about. Every stocking and light is placed with such care by their incredible team,” said Ronald McDonald House Charities New York Metro CEO Matt Campo.
