Dan’s Pet Care launches giveaway for rescue adoptions

Dan’s Pet Care in Glen Cove has launched a new initiative that provides a full month of doggy daycare, valued at about $1,500 to every qualifying rescue dog adopted in January.

The program is designed to support dogs and new pet parents during the first 30 days after adoption, a period widely recognized by rescues as one of the most challenging for successful placement.

The initiative runs alongside Dan’s Pet Care’s largest community giveaway to date, totaling over $68,000 in prizes, including a grand prize of one full year of doggy daycare, according to a company statement.

“The first month after adoption is often the make-or-break window,” said Dan Reitman, founder and CEO of Dan’s Pet Care. “New environment, new routine, new expectations — that’s when anxiety peaks and when many returns unfortunately happen. We wanted to remove cost and structure barriers during that exact moment so dogs can settle in, build confidence, and truly thrive in their new homes.”

If just 20 dogs are adopted through the initiative, the company will deliver more than $30,000 in direct services to rescue families in a single month, in addition to the $68,000 community giveaway.

The initiative is supported by Candy Udell, founder of Our Cause for Paws, and longtime advocate for animal welfare on Long Island. Our Cause for Paws is the nonprofit partner behind the widely recognized Champions for Charity events that raise significant funds for local rescue organizations each year.

“Supporting rescue dogs doesn’t stop at adoption day,” Udell said. “Programs that help dogs and families through the transition period are critical, and this initiative fills a real gap rescues see far too often.”

Dan’s Pet Care is working with a growing network of respected rescue organizations across Long Island and New York City, including NYC Second Chance Rescue, ARF Hamptons, Ollie’s Angels, Rescue Paw Foundation, Cove Animal Rescue, Jake’s Rescue Ranch, Almost Home Animal Rescue & Adoption and Pioneers for Animal Welfare Society.
