LI nonprofit receives $5K raised from Three Village Rotary 5K run/walk

The Three Village Rotary Club recently donated a check for $5,493, representing the proceeds from its Octoberfest 5K Run/Walk, to People’s Arc of Suffolk, which provides programs and services to children and adults with intellectual and other developmental disabilities on Long Island.

More than 160 runners, walkers and supporters turned out for the event this past October, which took participants through a scenic course in the Setauket community followed by a family-friendly Octoberfest celebration with food, entertainment, and local vendors.

“We’re grateful to our partners at the Three Village Rotary and everyone who came out to walk, run, and cheer,” said John McGuigan, CEO of People’s Arc of Suffolk. “Events like this bring our communities together and directly help fund the supports that allow people of all abilities to thrive.”

The funds donated will help purchase sensory software and tools including an interactive sensory wall and light-up sensory mirror set for the People’s Arc of Suffolk Educare Center, which serves children from pre-school to age 21 who live with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
