Bottles for Dollars supports local nonprofit

Students from Brentwood High School collected more than 60,000 bottles to raise money for a local nonprofit.

Pronto of Long Island, a Bay Shore-based community outreach center that provides food and sanitary products for those in need, was the recipient of the more than $3,000 in proceeds from this year’s Bottles for Dollars program.

Bottles for Dollars, an annual student-run recycling effort, has collected more than 500,000 bottles since it began nearly a decade ago.
