National fitness program launches at Southold school

Students at Southold Elementary School can now participate in a new fitness education program, thanks to the Peconic Bay Medical Center and Project Fit America.

Trainers from Project Fit America kicked off the program after its equipment and installation was gifted by the medical center, which is part of the Northwell Health system.

The $23,000 program includes an outdoor playground area with fitness stations, indoor equipment and teacher training tools with a designated curriculum. The program debuted at the Westhampton Beach Elementary School a few weeks ago.
