Southampton floats helium balloon ban

The Town of Southampton is proposing a new law that would prohibit the sale, distribution and release of balloons filled with any type of gas lighter than air, such as helium.

The town is holding a survey to see how the community feels about the proposal, which is intended to help protect wildlife and reduce environmental waste.

The deadline to submit a response for the survey is 4 p.m. on Feb. 14, 2020.
