Radio broadcast company collects over 22,000 pounds of food for LI families

JVC Broadcasting’s annual Food Fight Against Hunger, an event featuring all seven JVC Long Island radio stations — Party 105, LI News Radio, La Fiesta, My Country 96.1, En Vivo 1440 AM & 93.3 FM and Big Hits 98.1 — amassed over 22,000 pounds of food donations from Saturday, Nov. 8 through Sunday, Nov. 9.

In addition to the food, listeners and local partners also contributed 60 gift cards worth over $1,000, eight turkey certificates totaling $240, and over $500 in cash donations.

“Our listeners showed such generosity and kindness,” said Bruce Shepard, vice president and general manager of JVC Broadcasting NY. “We ended up doing very well given the current times.”

The donations will go directly to help Long Island families in Brookhaven and Riverhead, ensuring there will be food on the table this holiday season.

“This is how local radio shines — people helping people, neighbors helping neighbors,” said JVC Broadcasting CEO John Caracciolo. “JVC and our listeners continue to prove that local radio is better than all the rest, I wouldn’t trade this job for anything, we have the best team in radio and I am just proud that they let me work with them every day.”
