Brookhaven Lab, fraternity donate 300 coats to town drive
Employees from Brookhaven National Laboratory and a Farmingdale State College fraternity have donated over 300 winter coats to the Town of Brookhaven’s INTERFACE Winter Coat Drive.
Staff from Brookhaven Science Associates, the company that manages the Upton-based lab, delivered approximately 280 coats to Town Hall in Farmingville on Jan. 28.

The following day, members of Farmingdale State College’s Kappa Sigma Fraternity delivered another 30 coats collected during a holiday light display organized by alumnus Nicholas Oliveri.
“This delivery by Brookhaven Science Associates’ employees will help the Youth Bureau fulfill its mission of providing the gift of warmth to residents throughout Brookhaven Town,” said Supervisor Daniel J. Panico.
Councilman Neil Foley commended the fraternity members, noting that the program’s success “depends on the generosity of individuals and organizations like this.”
The INTERFACE program is a partnership involving approximately 100 corporations and nonprofits aimed at providing goods and services to residents in need.
