Real estate pros jump into action, raise $20,000 for breast cancer awareness

During the month of October, hundreds of real estate professionals from Signature Premier Properties’ 23 Long Island offices participated in “Jump for a Cause,” a breast cancer awareness fundraiser led by Signature Cares, the company’s community giving initiative. Dressed in pink, agents raised $20,000, which will support the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program.

“Thousands of Long Island women and their families are part of the breast cancer community, and at Signature we know that when one family member receives a diagnosis, the entire family needs support,” said Kathy Viard, co-owner of Signature Premier Properties. “Seeing hundreds of colleagues in pink across our offices, including teammates who are survivors or in treatment, gave these weeks a clear purpose.”

The effort began at the company’s East Northport location, where agents from its East Northport, Northport, Huntington, Cold Spring Harbor, Dix Hills and Syosset offices took part in group and individual rope challenges along with company leadership. Breast cancer survivors shared personal experiences, and agents who have survived cancer or are currently in treatment joined the celebration.

“The Jump for a Cause event creates positive energy that brings people together, with the shared goal of giving everyone facing a diagnosis the emotional support and information they need during treatment,” said Reyna Machado, a volunteer, breast cancer survivor and executive director of the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program.
