Stony Brook University announces $1 million grant for scholarships
Stony Brook University this month received a $1 million grant from the Gray Foundation to provide full scholarships for ten undergraduate students.
The recipients, all part of SUNY’s Top 10% Promise program, were top performers in their high school classes. They will live on campus and graduate debt-free while pursuing degrees in fields such as computer science, environmental science and psychology.
“These scholarships offer unparalleled opportunities to Stony Brook University students, whose tremendous potential and brilliant ambitions should never be dimmed by the limitations of their circumstances,” said Carl W. Lejuez, the university’s executive vice president and provost. “We are deeply grateful to the Gray Foundation for recognizing the potential of our students, and Stony Brook’s strong record of propelling low-income students into the middle classes or higher.”
The Gray Foundation, which focuses on empowering New York City youth and advancing BRCA science, has given out more than $60 million in scholarships to date. To learn more, visit grayfoundation.org.
