Allied Physicians Group opens centers combining day and night practices
Melville-based medical provider Allied Physicians Group is introducing Allied Pediatric Urgent Care centers that combine pediatric practices during the day with pediatric urgent care during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
A grand opening took place Monday, September 14 at Allied’s Medford location at 2799 Route 112, Medford, to be followed by a second grand opening on Thursday, September 17 at 380 Dogwood Ave. in Franklin Square. These are the first two locations in Allied’s planned pediatric urgent care expansion, with additional locations planned for Staten Island and Riverhead in the coming months.
Mothers of young children who are patients of the provider network shared the challenges they encountered finding convenient after-hours care from providers they trusted and who understood children’s specific healthcare needs. Their input led to the creation of the new urgent care centers.
“When a child gets sick after dinner, develops a fever at night, or gets injured during a weekend game, parents shouldn’t have to wonder where to go or settle for an unfamiliar walk-in clinic,” said Dr. Shannon O’Malley, medical director of urgent care for Allied Physicians Group. “We want families to know they have a trusted place to turn for timely, pediatric-focused care.”
According to Allied, the services will be available to all families, including children who are not existing Allied patients. Visits will be billed as regular pediatric office visits, allowing families to pay their regular office copay rather than a higher urgent care copay.
