Academy Charter School holds graduation caravan

The Academy Charter School celebrated its first ever high school graduating class this week with a 200-car police-escorted caravan parade through the streets of Hempstead.

Following the parade, the graduates returned to Calvary Tabernacle Church for an in-person socially distanced graduation ceremony. The school, located at 117 N. Franklin St. in Hempstead, has scheduled a virtual online graduation for Sunday June 20.

One hundred percent of the Academy Charter School’s senior class are graduating, with several students accepted to prestigious colleges and universities such as Harvard, Columbia, Barnard, Princeton Yale, and NYU.
