Iconic Island Park fish market to reopen

After being closed last year, the newly renovated Artie’s Fish Market & Grill in Island Park will reopen next week under new ownership.

Founded in 1974 by Artie Hoerning, who passed away in 2017, Artie’s had been operated by his daughters Cara Lee and Christina before they closed the fish market and restaurant last year.

This year, the business at 4257 Austin Blvd. was bought by Arthur Horak and his son, who renovated the place and will officially reopen it on Friday, Nov. 20.

Named four times to Newsday’s “Top 10 Fish Markets on Long Island” list, Artie’s was known for its fresh fish and a menu on par with Island Park’s best seafood restaurants.
