Brookhaven partners with Long Island Cares, PSEG Long Islandto host free farmers market for seniors

Brookhaven Town Supervisor Dan Panico attended the Free Farmers Market for Senior Citizens on Thursday, July 16, at Brookhaven Town Hall, where he welcomed participants and delivered remarks celebrating the town’s partnership with Long Island Cares and PSEG Long Island. 

The annual event provided eligible senior citizens with fresh produce and eggs at no cost, while also offering nutrition education and healthy cooking demonstrations presented by Long Island Cares.

This year’s event also coincided with Harry Chapin Day, observed each year on July 16 in honor of the Long Island native songwriter and humanitarian who co-founded Long Island Cares | The Harry Chapin Regional Food Bank. 

“The people here today come from communities across Brookhaven, and with the cost of groceries continuing to rise, partnerships like this help ensure our residents have access to fresh, healthy food,” said Panico. “It’s proof that when there is a need, organizations can come together to make a real difference, and the Town of Brookhaven is always proud to partner in efforts that support our residents.”
