Brightway Living & Learning’s Walk And Wellness Festival raises over $85,000
Hundreds of families, staff, community members, advocates and supporters came together to walk for Brightway Living & Learning’s annual Walk and Wellness Festival at the Suffolk Credit Union Arena at Suffolk County Community College’s Brentwood Campus, raising more than $85,000 in support of children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities last Saturday, October 3.
“Brightway’s Walk and Wellness Festival is a powerful reminder of what happens when a community unites behind a shared purpose,” said Joseph W. Schmidt, Brightway board chairman. “Every step taken and every dollar raised helps the children and adults Brightway supports reach personal milestones and expand their opportunities.”
In addition to the indoor walk in the arena, over 20 local health and fitness partners provided interactive wellness resources, flu and COVID-19 shots, blood pressure screenings and more, as well as family-oriented activities.
The funds raised will go directly towards enhancing the educational, residential, vocational and therapeutic services available at Brightway, formerly Developmental Disabilities Institute (DDI).
“This event goes far beyond fundraising—it is a powerful celebration of inclusion, unity, and the life-changing support Brightway provides to children, adults, and families every day,” said Victor Dezelic, senior vice president of Corporate Synergies. “We are deeply honored to champion their mission and walk alongside this incredible community.”
