National Grid Ventures raises $11K to benefit St. Baldrick’s Foundation
National Grid Ventures announced this week it raised $11,000 to support St. Baldrick’s Foundation’s mission to end childhood cancer during a charity breakfast event at Northport Power Station.
Barber Joseph Matt of Barber Chops in Massapequa, known for its “chance wheel of bad haircuts”, shaved the heads of National Grid Ventures employees who sported their new hairstyles in solidarity with patients. Hair from long-haired volunteers was donated to Wigs for Kids, a charity providing wigs to children suffering from many forms of hair loss, including due to chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
“We believe in acting as a force for good in all that we do, and this event is one more way we’re able to bring our community together and support a worthwhile cause while strengthening our ties with local residents,” said Jim Flannery, CEO of National Grid Ventures. “I’m proud to have been part of today’s event, and to be able to raise this money in support of St. Baldrick’s, underscoring our commitment to good corporate citizenship.”
Employees at E.F. Barrett Power Station in Island Park also held an event on Thursday, March 12, joining their colleagues by shaving their heads to support and raise money for childhood cancer patients.
