NICE Bus launching new north/south Mini Mile service

NICE (Nassau Inter-County Express) Bus will launch a new pilot service along the north/south corridor in East Meadow, North Merrick, North Bellmore and Bellmore.

The service, a hybrid of NICE’s Southshore Mini program, begins on Monday, Sept. 21, providing added connections to schools, shopping centers, community centers and major public transit connections.

Mini MILE service will run weekdays between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. from the Bellmore LIRR station along the Bellmore Road and Bellmore Ave. corridors to Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow. Riders can either wait at ‘super stops’ along the corridor for the scheduled service – or they may personally request a ride via the NICE Mini app. Rides are provided within the Mini MILE service area but are not direct door-to-door service.

“NICE Bus is always innovating to remain current with shifting models and trends in transportation, most recently the advent and acceptance of private ride services” said Jack Khzouz, NICE Bus CEO. “While we provide robust east-west service along Hempstead Turnpike and Jerusalem Avenue, the new Mini MILE service is a way to provide north-south connections within these vibrant communities.”

NICE Mini MILE service will be offered free of charge for the first month of service, through October 31. After October 31, the one-way charge for a NICE MINI Mile ride will be $3 and can be paid by coin, OMNY or NICE transfer on board, or via credit card in advance on the NICE Mini app.
