Free pet adoptions throughout September at Town of Oyster Bay animal shelter
The Town of Oyster Bay Animal Shelter is hosting ‘free adoption month’ where all general adoption fees will be waived throughout the month of September.
During the month of September, the shelter, located at 150 Miller Place in Syosset, will waive the general adoption fees of $80 per dog and $84 per cat. All usual adoption services will be provided, including the spaying or neutering of the animal, vaccination and microchipping.
“Most shelter pets wind up there through no fault of their own, often for a reason their owners are faced with, and are already housetrained and familiar living in family settings,” said Councilwoman Laura Maier. “As someone who welcomed a shelter pet into my home several years ago, I can speak firsthand about how much they appreciate a second chance and the unconditional love they provide.”
In addition to free adoption month, the town will be hosting a free rabies vaccination clinic at the animal shelter on Saturday, September 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Microchip services will also be available for a $25 fee.
The shelter is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Residents interested in viewing the animals available for adoption can call the shelter to make an appointment, visit the town’s Facebook page, or town website at www.oysterbaytown.com.
