Ocean Financial Federal Credit Union to host homebuyer seminar in Oceanside
Ocean Financial Federal Credit Union (OFFCU) will host “Tips for Homebuyers in a Higher Interest Rate Environment,” offering practical guidance to help prospective buyers prepare for homeownership.
The event takes place on Thursday, November 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus, 2985 Kenneth Place in Oceanside.
The program will focus on building a realistic financial plan before beginning a home search, including identifying preferred communities and property types, establishing priorities, exploring homebuyer assistance programs and working with experienced real estate and mortgage professionals.
Participants will also learn how to calculate the full monthly cost of homeownership, including mortgage principal and interest, property taxes, insurance and applicable homeowners association fees.
The seminar will cover how to evaluate advertised mortgage rates, understand discount points and compare fixed-rate and adjustable-rate mortgages. Additional guidance will address protecting credit scores, developing a down payment strategy and making decisions that reflect each buyer’s finances and long-term goals.
