New playground opens at Good Ground Park

A ribbon cutting was held Thursday afternoon at Good Ground Park in Hampton Bays to celebrate the opening of a new playground, which was generously funded by a $50,000 donation from Douglas Elliman Real Estate.

Douglas Elliman employees joined town officials to commemorate the playground with a crowd of Hampton Bays residents, children and pets.

“This park is an amazing place, it’s already become a community center,” said Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Scheiderman. “And of course playgrounds are not just the place to play and have fun, but also a place to make friends.”

Children were able to participate in the ribbon cutting and enjoy their new playground equipment.

“I knew how important this park was to this community from having worked on it with the Town,” said Douglas Elliman’s Carl Benincasa, who previously worked as a Southampton town attorney. “I am so thrilled to be here, to be with all of you and to be a part of this park and this playground, and I hope that families will enjoy it for years to come.”

Good Ground Park opened to the public in the Spring of 2017. Several concerts and events are planned each year, including movie nights and an upcoming premier of “Shakespeare in the Park” in the sunken amphitheater.
