LIHP seeking volunteers to beautify Bay Shore homes

Hauppauge-based Long Island Housing Partnership and the State of New York Mortgage Agency are holding an event to help beautify Bay Shore on Friday, Oct. 11.

The Spruce Up Bay Shore event will bring together volunteers to improve homes on a section of streets near First Baptist Church of Bay Shore. The campaign will include painting, power washing, landscaping and more. All of the supplies and equipment will be provided, along with water, snacks and lunch.

Last year, 60 volunteers worked together to spruce up 14 homes across Central Islip. This year the nonprofit is aiming to improve that number to more than 40 homes in one day, all at no cost to the homeowners.

Sponsorship and donation proceeds raised from the event will help support the Spruce Up campaign along with Long Island Housing Partnership’s other programs and services. The organization provides affordable housing opportunities for Long Islanders in need with initiatives like down payment assistance, mortgage counseling, housing lotteries and more.

Bay Shore residents interested in having their home be part of the event and Long Islanders who want to volunteer for the day can visit lihp.org/spruceup.html.
