Spud stud: Grower donates 30K pounds of potatoes

Bushwick Potato Commission, a Farmingdale-based produce grower and distributor, donated about 30,000 pounds of potatoes last week to the Island Harvest Food Bank.

The donation goes towards Island Harvest’s efforts to provide food to Long Islanders affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

Bushwick Potato has been working with local growers to supply its supermarket and foodservice customers for more than 85 years.

“As a family-owned and operated company for four generations, we are proud to be able to give back when Long Islanders need it most,” Ken Gray, vice president of sales and marketing for Bushwick Potato Commission, said in a written statement. “Our entire Bushwick family understands the importance of lending a helping hand during this difficult time. We will all get through this by working together!”
