Four hospitals to get $1M each from federal funds

Four hospitals located within the Town of Hempstead will each receive $1 million from the town’s share of federal funds.

The money, allocated to Hempstead through the federal Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security Act, will go to Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, Northwell Health’s Long Island Jewish Valley Stream Hospital, Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow and Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital in Oceanside.

The funds are intended to help support major economic entities that have been overwhelmed by the exorbitant, unexpected costs related to handling COVID-19, according to a town statement.
