Scouts get merit badges in drive-thru ceremony

Scouts from the Theodore Roosevelt Council received merit badges at a drive-thru ceremony hosted by the Town of Hempstead this week.

A dozen scouts were given the town’s COVID-19 Youth Relief Effort Badge of Merit at the Baldwin Park event for making thousands of face masks for first responders and essential workers.

The blue and gold badge of merit patch features the town seal, scout logo and health symbol.
