Oyster Bay joins Vinny’s Army to proclaim September Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and members of the town board joined with the Vinny’s Army organization to officially proclaim the month of September Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in the Town of Oyster Bay.
Vinny’s Army, a nonprofit organization supporting children diagnosed with cancer, was inspired by the battle faced by the Cusumano family of Massapequa, when their son Vinny was diagnosed with cancer in October 2022 at just 10 years old.
“Today we encourage all residents to join Vinny’s Army to help create smiles and spread love, hope, strength and resilience,” said Saladino. “During the month of September, we will illuminate Town Hall in gold and display gold ribbons on the columns of our front entrance as a symbol of our unity in the fight against pediatric cancer.”
