Van Leeuwen Ice Cream opens its first store on Long Island

Brooklyn-based Van Leeuwen Ice Cream has opened a scoop shop in the Roosevelt Field mall in Garden City.

This is the first Long Island location for the premium brand that began with a yellow scoop truck on the streets of New York City in 2008. Van Leeuwen’s French-style ice cream is made with more than double the amount of egg yolks as standard ice cream.

The company is known nationally for creative seasonal flavors with a genuine focus on good ingredients and no unnecessary stuff, and for out-of-the-box limited-edition collaboration flavors such as Hidden Valley Ranch, Kraft Macaroni & Cheese and BIGFACE Coffee Affogato in partnership with NBA All-Star Jimmy Butler. Its extensive menu features more than 30 signature flavors including its award-winning Vanilla Bean, Honeycomb, Pistachio, Marionberry Cheesecake, Praline Butter Cake and Earl Grey Tea, in addition to sundaes, waffle cones, ice cream sandwiches, root beer floats, milkshakes and pints to-go. Popular vegan flavors include Banana Bread Pudding, Peanut Butter Brownie Honeycomb, Strawberry Shortcake and more.

The new Van Leeuwen scoop shop is located on the mall’s second floor near the center elevator.
