Zumiez opening at Green Acres in Valley Stream

Zumiez, the retailer known for its selection of apparel, footwear and accessories rooted in skate and youth culture, will open a new store in the Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream.

The new Zumiez store opens on Monday, Sept. 14 on the mall’s first level near Akira and Kay Jewelers.

The new Valley Stream store will be the sixth Zumiez store on Long Island, following others in Garden City, Deer Park, Bay Shore, Lake Grove and Riverhead.

Founded by Tom Campion with a single store called Above the Belt in 1978, Zumiez now has over 9,000 employees across more than 700 locations throughout North America and Europe.

The company’s charitable arm, Zumiez Foundation, aims to support and empower young people by investing in communities and organizations that create opportunities for growth, connection, and positive impact. The foundation has donated $14.1 million in cold weather clothing and accessories, supporting over 200 agencies, and positively impacting over 75,000 people since 2005.
