Donation from LI auto dealer helps kick off first day of SIBSPlace summer camp
Westbury Jeep recently presented a $2,500 donation to SIBSPlace during the nonprofit’s first day of camp celebration on Tuesday, July 7. The donation helped fund supplies for the camp’s opening day activities, including the tie-dye materials used by campers to create their own shirts.
The contribution supports SIBSPlace’s mission of providing free prevention-based mental health services to Long Island children facing a sibling or parent’s serious illness or the loss of a loved one. Representatives from Westbury Jeep attended the celebration and joined campers and staff as the 35 children participating in the summer program kicked off camp with the tie-dye activity.
“Donations like this one from Westbury Jeep directly fund the programs that make summer activities possible for our campers. This kind of support keeps that experience free and accessible for every family who needs it,” said Joanna Formont, executive director of SIBSPlace.
SIBSPlace offers year-round programs, including its summer camp, for siblings of children battling cancer or life-threatening illnesses, children coping with a parent’s cancer diagnosis, and for families coping with the loss of a loved one. Over its 25-year history, SIBSPlace has served more than 1,000 participants across Long Island.
“Organizations like SIBSPlace make a lasting difference in the lives of children and families,” said Marie Rentz, general manager of Westbury Jeep, “and it is important for businesses to support programs that strengthen our communities and ensure these services remain available to everyone who needs them.”
