Tulum Taco Stand opens on Long Beach boardwalk

Tulum Taco Stand, a counter-service Mexican spot serving tacos, bowls and frozen margaritas, has opened on the Long Beach boardwalk, the first step in a larger oceanfront project that will bring a full-size Mexican steakhouse to the same stretch later this year.

The stand is open now. It is the quick-service opening act for Hacienda Tulum, a roughly 200-seat sit-down restaurant that owner Nicolas Geeraerts plans to bring online with a soft opening in August and a full opening in September. Both operate under his Tulum Tacos & Tequila banner, which already has locations in Baldwin and Mineola.

For the summer, the boardwalk stand keeps things simple: tacos, bowls, churros, aguas frescas and frozen margaritas served with an ocean view. The forthcoming steakhouse is the more ambitious half of the plan, a year-round room of about 200 seats with a mole-focused kitchen, private dining and a speakeasy, built to run well past the beach season.

The arrival is part of the broader revival of Long Beach’s boardwalk waterfront, where newly built oceanfront commercial space has been drawing year-round tenants to a stretch long defined by seasonal windows.

The taco stand is serving on the boardwalk now, while Hacienda Tulum’s soft opening is planned for August.
