Manhasset Community Fund awards $10K grant to LI charity to help provide food for families in need

The Health & Welfare Council of Long Island (HWCLI) has been awarded a $10,000 grant through the 2026 Manhasset Community Fund – Greentree Foundation Good Neighbor Fund in support of the nonprofit’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefit eligibility counseling services for residents of the Town of North Hempstead.

As food costs continue to place financial strain on households across Long Island, many eligible residents remain unaware that they may qualify for SNAP benefits or need assistance navigating the application process. The grant funds HWCLI so it can continue to provide free, confidential eligibility screenings, application assistance, recertification support, and education to ensure eligible residents receive the benefits available to them.
