Green Acres hosts World Soccer Festival
As the World Cup wowed fans, Green Acres in Valley Stream held its inaugural World Soccer Festival on Sunday, July 12, celebrating global cultures with an afternoon of interactive entertainment, community connection, and family-friendly activities.
Held at Green Acres Center Court, the free event featured internationally recognized professional soccer freestyler Mo Omar, who delivered high-energy performances showcasing his skill and engaging directly with attendees through interactive demonstrations. Guests enjoyed photo opportunities, giveaways, a tattoo station, soccer trivia, prizes, and Green Acres-branded cooling towels throughout the afternoon.
The event featured a DJ, games and activities including limbo, a conga line, soccer trivia, and prize giveaways. The festival’s prize wheel featured gift cards from Green Acres retailers offering game-day apparel, fan gear, footwear, and accessories, including Champs, Lids, Macy’s, Old Navy, OshKosh B’gosh/Carter’s, and The Children’s Place.

The celebration also recognized the contributions of local soccer organizations and community partners dedicated to growing the sport throughout Long Island. Representatives from New York State Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages’ office presented citations to Green Acres, Valley Stream Soccer Club, Richmond Benevolent Foundation, The Island FC, and Mo Omar in recognition of their contributions to the community.
