Molloy University’s Spring 2026 commencement returns to Jones Beach Theater
More than 1,000 graduates of the Molloy University’s Class of 2026 walked across the stage at Jones Beach Amphitheater on Monday, May 18 for its commencement.
The recipients of 703 bachelors degrees, 295 masters degrees, 30 doctoral degrees and many others were given their diplomas before a cheering crowd of families, friends and guests.
“This is always a triumphant day, and even better that it’s here, at an iconic Long Island location where we can all celebrate,” said Dr. James P. Lentini, president of Molloy University. “We hear a lot about challenges for new graduates, but our students have studied in practical fields, and they always find success when they leave us.”
Lentini performed a rendition of “Good Riddance” by Green Day on acoustic guitar, joined by voices from the Molloy CAP21 theater graduates.
Award-winning journalist Jo Napolitano served as commencement speaker and was named an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters in recognition of her impact on education and social justice. Napolitano has reported for The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune, Newsday, and The 74, where she continues to produce investigative work focused on equity and student opportunity. Isabella Schaefer of East Rockaway served as valedictorian, with Salutatorian Grace Wilson of Hicksville from the Class of 2026.
“Isabella and Grace represent the very best of Molloy University,” said Dr. Michelle Piskulich, provost and VP for academic affairs at Molloy University. “Together, they embody the spirit of service and purpose that defines Molloy University and will undoubtedly inspire our graduates as they step forward into lives of impact and meaning.”
