National Nights Out events on LI aim to bring law enforcement, communities together

Long Island and New York City nonprofit Outreach will participate in “National Nights Out” in multiple locations across Queens and Long Island on Tuesday, August 4 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The events are designed to bring neighborhoods and local law enforcement together with free family-friendly activities, information booths, and free refreshments.

Attendees can visit booths staffed by team members from many of Outreach’s facilities who will offer information, linkage and referral to those seeking help with addiction issues and co-occurring behavioral health challenges. Free snacks, water, branded items and informational flyers will also be available.

“These wonderful National Nights Out, held by police departments throughout the U.S., are a great opportunity for those who might seek our services to be directed to the care they need,” said Mary Brite, CEO of Outreach. “For others, we hope to convey the message that we are part of your community and are here to help. We hope people will stop by and learn about our services and pass that information on to those who may need it.”

National Nights Out will occur on Long Island at the following locations:

Bellport: Holtsville Ecology Center, 249 Buckley Road, Holtsville, with SCPD 5th Precinct

Brentwood: Roberto Clemente Park, 400 Broadway, Brentwood with SCPD 3rd Precinct C.O.P.E.

Hempstead: Denton Green, 99 James Garner Way, Hempstead, with the Village of Hempstead Mayor’s Office and Police Department

Wyandanch: Wyandanch Park, Mount Ave/Birch Street with SCPD 1st Precinct
