Town to hold free rabies vaccination clinics

The Town of Brookhaven and Suffolk County are holding free rabies vaccination clinics.

The clinics will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 8 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Brookhaven Animal Shelter at 300 Horseblock Road in Brookhaven.  

All Suffolk County dogs, cats and ferrets, not just those from Brookhaven Town, are eligible for the free vaccinations. Dogs must be on a leash, and cats and ferrets must be in a carrier.  

Volunteers will be on hand to speed you through the process and issue a vaccination collar medallion. Food trucks and refreshments will also be on hand.
