A1 Cares bowling fundraiser raises $4,600 for Ronald Mcdonald House Long Island

About 50 people came together for the “Bowling for a Good Cause” fundraiser, held at Port Jeff Bowl in Port Jefferson Station recently, raising $4,600 to benefit Ronald McDonald House Long Island and its new facility currently under construction at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital.

Organized by the A1 Cares Junior Committee, part of the philanthropic arm of Medford-based contracting firm A1 Roofing, the event gave participants an opportunity to enjoy an afternoon of bowling while supporting Ronald McDonald House Long Island’s mission of helping families with seriously ill children.

“We are incredibly grateful to A1 Cares, its Junior Committee and everyone who came out to bowl and support Ronald McDonald House Long Island,” said Matt Campo, CEO of Ronald McDonald House Long Island. “As construction continues at Stony Brook, support from organizations and individuals throughout the community is helping us move closer to the day when we can welcome families into this new House and provide them with the comfort, resources and sense of community they need during an incredibly difficult time.”

The fundraiser included bowling, pizza and refreshments, along with sponsorship opportunities for local businesses and community supporters. The event was also supported by North Shore Elite Competition Cheer.

Funds raised will support the new Ronald McDonald House being constructed on the campus of Stony Brook Children’s Hospital. The new House will provide families whose children are receiving medical care at the hospital with a place to stay close to their child during treatment.

Ronald McDonald House Long Island currently supports families through its House in New Hyde Park as well as through Family Rooms and other programs at area hospitals.

Construction of the new House at Stony Brook is underway, with crews continuing work on the facility ahead of its anticipated opening in fall 2027.
