Tanger Deer Park kicks off footwear recycling drive

Tanger Outlets Deer Park is doing some sole searching with a new footwear recycling drive. 

For five days this month, visitors to the Deer Park retail complex are invited to donate shoes in any condition so they can be repurposed into raw materials for future soft-play surfaces at Tanger and throughout the community and keep them out of the waste stream. 

Tanger Deer Park is partnering with Sneaker Impact, a sustainable footwear recycling company that aims to give sneakers a new life. 

The new initiative builds on Tanger’s Earth Day sneaker recycling drive last April, which resulted in more than 3,800 shoes, weighing about 2.75 tons, being collected across Tanger centers nationwide and repurposed into usable products. 

The recycling drive takes place from noon to 4 p.m. on Sept. 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27.
