Dickey’s Barbecue Pit opens in Freeport

A new Dickey’s Barbecue Pit restaurant opened in Freeport this week.

The eatery at 397 West Sunrise Highway is the national chain’s third location on Long Island, joining others in Centereach and Lawrence.

Dickey’s menu features beef brisket, pulled pork, St. Louis style ribs, polish sausage, spicy cheddar sausage, smoked turkey, and marinated chicken, with homestyle sides from jalapeño beans to macaroni and cheese. Buttery rolls and complementary ice cream are served with every meal and kids eat free on Sunday.

Founded in 1941 by Travis Dickey, the chain started with one Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in Dallas, Texas. Franchising began in 1994 and the chain now has more than 500 locations in 44 states.
