Farm-to-table restaurant opens in Syosset

The Local Table, a farm-to-table restaurant built around seasonal cooking and regional sourcing, has opened in the space that housed Hurricane Grill & Wings for years before it closed in late 2024.

The restaurant began dinner service in July under executive chef Isaac Olivo. Its kitchen is organized around the Northeast’s growing and fishing regions, with seafood from the Long Island Sound and Montauk, responsibly raised proteins from the Hudson Valley, and seasonal produce from Pennsylvania farmland. The result is a menu that changes with the seasons and leans on named farms and day-boat catches rather than a fixed year-round lineup.

The dining room is casual but polished, with a full bar and a cocktail program, and the kitchen offers vegan and gluten-free options. Dinner is served nightly, and the restaurant has advertised a weekend brunch to come.

The Local Table is the newest concept from WH Restaurants Group, a Syosset-based operator that describes itself as built by restaurant workers, for restaurant workers. The group also runs 236 Syosset, an omakase and cocktail bar; SUP Vietnamese; and Voodoo Crab, a Cajun seafood restaurant. The Syosset location gives the group a fine-dining anchor a short distance from its omakase room.

The Jericho Turnpike address has been a neighborhood dining stop for decades. Hurricane Grill & Wings operated there for roughly thirty years before closing in late 2024, and the space sat available until The Local Table took it over and reworked it for table service.
