Optimum, Warner Bros. Discovery host backpack programs at LI schools

Optimum and Warner Bros. Discovery distributed 500 backpacks to local elementary school students in Freeport, Uniondale and Hempstead to help ensure they have the tools they need for a successful school year.

The event, held Monday, August 18 at the Cradle of Aviation Museum, was supported by the local community and nonprofit organizations. It featured free backpacks filled with school supplies, including a water bottle, crayons, rulers, pens and more, as well as fun activities, music, refreshments, and more to celebrate with members of the communities that the companies serve.

Optimum also presented a $10,000 donation each to the Freeport Union Free, Uniondale Union Free, and Hempstead Union Free School Districts through the company’s partnership with national education nonprofit DonorsChoose. These donations will directly benefit students and educators in Freeport, Uniondale, and Hempstead, helping to fund essential educational programs, classroom resources, and extracurricular opportunities. By investing in local schools, Optimum demonstrates its ongoing commitment to fostering academic achievement and long-term success for young innovators across Long Island.

Optimum, News 12, and Warner Bros. Discovery were joined by Nassau County Legis. Scott Davis, Nassau County Legis. Olena Nicks, Assemblywoman Judy Griffin, Legis. Seth Koslow, and Assemblyman Noah Burroughs, to celebrate the start of the school year.

Next Thursday, August 28, Optimum and Warner Bros. Discover will be distributing backpacks at Central Islip Senior High School and Optimum will provide a $10,000 donation to the school as well.
