Tony Award-winner Ben Vereen will conduct a one-day online acting class hosted by Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts.

Available to just a dozen students, Vereen will guide students through the craft of character acting and interpretation via the two-hour Zoom master class to be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 16.

An accomplished entertainer, Vereen won a Tony Award and Drama Desk Award in the 1972 Broadway debut of “Pippin,” and has starred in such musicals as “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “Fosse,” “Hair,” “Jelly’s Last Jam,” “Chicago,” “Wicked,” and “I’m Not Rappaport,” among others. He is best known for films “Sweet Charity” and “All That Jazz,” and for playing the role of Chicken George in “Roots.”

Registration for the acting class is open to adults ages 18 and up with prior performing arts experience and costs $99. Prospective participants should prepare a monologue of no longer than 90 seconds, or 16 bars of song with an accompaniment track.
