Sereen Hair and Beauty Boutique opens in Islip

Local officials and business leaders attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of Sereen Hair and Beauty Boutique in Islip.

The new salon, at 478 Main St., also launched a program called “Mondays at Sereen,” which offers clients affordable wigs and hair extensions to those who are undergoing cancer treatments or are experiencing medical hair loss such as alopecia.

The salon has an ongoing partnership with Mondays at Racine Cancer Care, to help patients feel confident and beautiful, in spite of their diagnosis. Sereen’s owner Nikeya Burnett has decades of experience in the hair and healthcare industries, and works closely with clients to ensure a stress-free process.

“Having a positive outlook and self-image can make all the difference to someone undergoing cancer treatment or suffering from medical hair loss,” Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter said in a written statement. “We are grateful to our local businesses, Sereen and Mondays at Racine, who provide an invaluable service to their clients during a pivotal time.”
