Wild Fork Foods market opens in West Hempstead

Long Islanders who crave exotic fare like ostrich or alligator might enjoy this new business.

National meat and seafood market chain Wild Fork Foods opened its first Long Island location this week.

The new 3,000-square-foot market is located in the Nassau Plaza shopping center at 603 Hempstead Turnpike. Wild Fork will hold a grand opening celebration at the store on Saturday, April 27.

The West Hempstead Wild Fork Foods market is the first of three locations that the company will be opening here. By this summer there will be a Wild Fork Foods market in the Smith Haven Plaza shopping center at 2075 Moriches Road in Lake Grove and another in the Woodbury Plaza shopping center at 409 South Oyster Bay Road in Plainview.

Wild Fork specializes in frozen meat and seafood staples, as well as exotic meats, fruits, vegetables and prepared foods. Besides typical grocery staples, shoppers can also find and exotic meats like alligator, elk and ostrich. 

Founded in 2018, Wild Fork now has more than 40 stores in Florida, Texas, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and California. The company will also deliver everywhere in the continental U.S.
